A performative response to my 3 month residency stay in Norway, Bear Lady (my alter ego) takes a curious journey to the waters edge, which is captured in a photographic series. Each image hides the facial identity of the subject but proliferates the bear hooded subject. The performance action is in part, inspired by a broken ankle during the start of the residency, the series documents an act of risk, adventure and freedom. Each image captures a moment, collectively they unravel a curious story featuring a mystery subject. They are a poetic, moody phrase of movement on the Bergen coast where I was resident at USF Verftet an old Sardine Factory since converted o artists’ studio and Art Centre.
