An exciting morning consisting of talks and screenings with four Unlimited Commissioned artists from the global majority.
Unlimited, a commissioning programme for work by disabled artists, presents – the showcasing event ‘Ancestry, Diaspora & Storytelling’ and asks the questions ‘What does being a disabled artist from the global majority mean to you?’ and ‘How does your ancestry inspire your creative practice?’

10.00am: Introduction
10.10am: Ayesha Jones – Tune in to learn more about this 2021 Portrait of Britain awardee and her Coventry21 and Unlimited Partner Award Commission ‘Motherland’, which uses photography, film, and creative writing to explore themes around black female identity, dual heritage identity, and belonging.
10.30am: Hassun El-Zafar – Hear from The Art House and Unlimited Partner Award Commission artist speak about HEAR: Hearing Extinction & Audiological Relapse, which is currently on view at The Art House in Wakefield. With his specialisation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Hassun is interested in art that catalyses social change.

11.00: whatsthebigmistry – Get ready to see exclusive work-in-progress material and hear behind-the-scenes stories from Priya’s ongoing Unlimited Empire commission ‘The Empire’s Old Clothes’!
11:20: Rhine Bernardino – Beware of salivating tastebuds! Rhine, an artist, independent curator and researcher, will be sharing a never-before-seen cooking video as part of their Bagri Foundation and Unlimited Partner Award Commission ‘Have You Eaten?: Narratives and Stories Behind Recipes from Across Asia’.

12:10: Screening of artist videos – An online screening of a programme consisting of short videos made by artists Lilac Yosiphon, Tobi Adebajo, Vijay Patel, Jameisha Prescod, and Rhine Bernardino presenting their Unlimited Commissions and their creative practices.
